Matthew's WIP blog 2 - Plastic Vanguard Veterans part 2

Hey all,
I decided that i'd start working on my vanguard veterans whilst I waited for the chapter master to arrive, so i've done more work, I decided to go for a harder, but great looking helmet technique, consisting of:
-Astronomican Grey [watered down] basecoat.
-HEAVY wash of badab black
-Go back and paint all the flat parts with thin layers of astronomican grey, leaving a thick, even darker shadow-line along all edges.

Incoming: Ultramarines Chapter Master

You read it right!
After being inspired by retributionangels converted Ultramarines chapter master, I decided I wanted to make my own too! I wanted to make use of the creativity side of the hobby so I will be making my own kit-bashed chapter master with thunder hammer and plasma / bolt pistol. So I headed to a bits website, and picked up all the required pieces for a decent price! it'll take a while to ship though, considering i live in NZ. Update on this in around 1.5 - 2 weeks

Space Marine Plastic Librarian conversion!

Hey Guys!

This is my plastic kit-bashed ultramarines libarian. I found some extra parts all around my 'hobby area' and found that I had enough stuff to make a kit-bashed librarian conversion. So after dry-fitting, assembling and painting the miniature, he was finished. Parts are from -
-Force weapon:SM standard top, Power axe, BA Standard pole
-Head: Black Templar upgrade sprue
-Book on backpack: Dark angels upgrade sprue
-Crux terminatus shoulder pad and Ultramarines shoulder pad:SM Captain model sprues
-Body and kneeling legs: Command squad sprue
-Backpack: pretty much anywhere
-Left arm: plasma pistol 'pointing' arm
-Left hand: The unclenched version of a hand from the sanguinary guard box set.

2nd WIP blog! (i'll update all WIP's randomly whenever I can) This time, I wanted to try plastic Vanguard conersions, so I bought a set of sanguinary guard. They will look quite sanguiniusy but im going to change helmets and some shoulder pads the first "power axe" and "bolt pistol" are done - and there'll be a pic of the body here too. ENJOY!

Good news! the first converted plastic Sternguard space marine is finished! [his base needs to be done, but the model is complete]. Here are the pictures:

I have done the helmet, gun, arms and most of the body of my 1st sternguard marine. Pics -
P.S - I am expecting a box of Sanguinay guard so I can make a plastic squad of vanguard vets as well as an sm commander to make my 2nd and 3rd WIP blogs soon. look out for that!

Matthew's WIP blog 1 - Sternguard Veterans Conversion - part one

In all honesty, I loathe metal models. I love their beauty, but I hate painting and assembling them. I'm particularly looking at the Sternguard veterans. They were metal, so I decided to make my own! After buying some parts off a bitz website, I've come up with the beginning of my sternguard veterans. [Sanguinary guard torsos, death company legs and black templar heads used for these lads]
